TV Remote Guide
Learn how to use the two remote controls for the entertainment system.
Two Remotes System
The entertainment system uses two different remotes, each serving specific functions:
Samsung TV Remote
- Controls the TV power, input, and settings
- Controls the soundbar volume
- General TV navigation
Apple TV Remote
- Controls Apple TV streaming device
- Navigate apps and content
- Play, pause, and skip controls
Samsung TV Remote
Important Note
The Samsung TV remote may need to be pointed directly at the TV in order to work properly. This is because it uses infrared (IR) signals which require line-of-sight.
Key Functions
Power Button
- Turn the TV on/off
- Located at the top of the remote
Volume Controls
- Volume Up/Down buttons
- Controls both TV and soundbar volume
- Mute button available
Input/Source Button
- Switch between different inputs (HDMI, Apple TV, etc.)
- Press to see all available inputs
Navigation
- Directional pad (up, down, left, right)
- Center button to select/confirm
Menu Button
- Access TV settings and options
- Adjust picture, sound, and other settings
TV Settings Access
To adjust TV settings:
- Press the Menu button
- Use directional pad to navigate
- Press center button to select
- Adjust settings as needed:
- Picture settings
- Audio settings
- Input settings
- Network settings
Soundbar Control
The Samsung remote automatically controls the soundbar:
- Volume buttons adjust soundbar volume
- No special mode needed
- Works when TV is on
Apple TV Remote
The Apple TV remote is used specifically for the Apple TV streaming device.
Key Functions
Touch Surface
- Swipe to navigate menus
- Tap to select
- Works like a trackpad
Play/Pause Button
- Control media playback
- Press once to pause
- Press again to resume
Home Button
- Return to Apple TV home screen
- Double-press to see recently used apps
Back Button
- Go back to previous screen
- Press and hold to return to home
Volume Controls
- Adjust volume via soundbar
- Works when Apple TV is active
Siri Button (if available)
- Voice search for movies/shows
- “Show me comedies”
- “Find action movies”
Using Apple TV
- Press any button on the Apple TV remote to wake it
- Swipe on the touch surface to navigate
- Tap to select an app
- Use the back button to return to previous screens

The Apple TV should have access to:

- Hulu

- YouTube

Getting Started
Initial Setup

Turn on the TV
- Use the Samsung remote power button
- Point remote at TV

Wake the Apple TV
- Press any button on the Apple TV remote
- Apple TV interface should appear

Select Input (if needed)
- If Apple TV doesn’t show, press Input/Source on Samsung remote
- Select the HDMI port for Apple TV
Switching Inputs
To switch between Apple TV and other devices:
- Press Input or Source button on Samsung remote
- Navigate to desired input
- Select with center button
Common inputs:
- Apple TV (HDMI)

Troubleshooting
Samsung Remote Not Working
Check Battery
- Remote may need new batteries
- Typically uses AAA batteries
Point at TV
- Make sure remote is pointed directly at TV
- Remove any obstructions
- Try moving closer to TV
Try Power Cycling
- Unplug TV from power
- Wait 30 seconds
- Plug back in
- Try remote again
Apple TV Remote Not Working
Check Charging
- Apple TV remote is rechargeable
- Charge using Lightning or USB-C cable
- Check battery level in Apple TV settings
Re-pair Remote
- Hold Home and Volume Up buttons together
- Wait for pairing message on screen
- Follow on-screen instructions
Restart Apple TV
- Go to Settings > System > Restart
- Or unplug Apple TV for 10 seconds
No Picture/No Sound
Check Power
- Ensure TV is plugged in and powered on
- Check power indicator light
Check Input
- Use Input button to verify correct source
- Switch between inputs to test
Check Connections
- Verify HDMI cables are firmly connected
- Check if soundbar is powered on
TV Won’t Turn On
- Check power outlet - try another device in the outlet
- Check TV power cable connection
- Look for power indicator light on TV
- Try unplugging TV for 1 minute, then plug back in

- Touch surface (top half)

Best Practices
Remote Care
- Keep remotes away from liquids
- Don’t drop or throw remotes
- Replace batteries when performance decreases
- Charge Apple TV remote regularly
Usage Tips
- Point Samsung remote directly at TV for best results
- For Apple TV remote, no pointing needed (uses Bluetooth)
- Press buttons firmly but don’t force
- If button gets stuck, remove batteries and contact us
